About this venue

The Konzerthaus Freiburg opened in 1996 to a design by the architect Dietrich Bangert and stands on Konrad-Adenauer-Platz at the western edge of the old town, a short walk from the main station. It is operated by Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe (FWTM) and is used for concerts and cultural events as well as congresses, conferences and galas. The main hall, the Rolf Böhme Saal, is named after the former mayor who drove the project. Its floor, stage and side seating tiers are configurable: it seats up to 1,744 in rows, or opens into a flat hall of about 1,000 m². The Runder Saal is a circular room of about 300 m² with a surrounding gallery and natural light. The SWR Symphonieorchester and the Freiburger Barockorchester give concerts here several times a year, alongside touring artists from classical music and entertainment. Two underground car parks with around 800 spaces are next to the building, and coats and larger bags must be checked at the cloakroom.
