About this venue

The Kulturinsel Stuttgart has grown since 2012 on the site of a former goods station in Bad Cannstatt into a place for art, culture, social projects and encounters, run as a non-profit company and listed by the City of Stuttgart among its socio-cultural centres. It took over the former Club Zollamt, a club and event venue that opened in 2000 and hosted acts such as Gentleman and Gestört aber Geil; its Main Floor is now used for exhibitions such as the street-art show "Urban Home", children's theatre and concerts. Since March 2018 the Kulturinsel has been an official "Willkommensraum" of the city, a meeting place for people with and without a refugee background. The grounds include the urban garden Inselgrün with regular permaculture workshops, a beer garden, an artists' café and a party railway wagon. The freiRaum on the first floor — two bright, air-conditioned rooms of about 200 m² in total with an open kitchen and bar and views over the city — is let for workshops, conferences, team events, Christmas parties and private celebrations.
