About this venue

Kulturverket Flammen is Nittedal municipality's cultural house at Borghild Ruds vei 3 on Rotnes. It gathers halls, the library, the municipal music school and rehearsal rooms in one building, and both halls double as belief-neutral ceremony rooms. Storsalen is 24.9 x 15.6 m with 12 m to the ceiling and a stage of 15.6 x 8.5 m, around 140 m2. It seats 350 and takes up to 600 standing, with a full stage rig and good sound, light and AV. Lillesalen is 15.8 x 8.8 m by 6.05 m high, a flexible black box holding about 150 on a flat floor, used for theatre, concerts, ceremonies and rehearsals. Both halls carry aQflex, a Danish acoustic system of inflatable membranes hung from the ceiling that adjust the reverberation to the material — Flammen was the first venue in Norway to install it. Both have hearing loops and monitor screens in the dressing rooms. The house instruments are a Steinway C-227 grand in Storsalen, a Steinway K-132 upright, an Essex EUP-123, a Yamaha CP4 stage piano and a Hammond B3 with a Leslie cabinet. Technical riders for both halls are published on the venue's site. Beyond the halls there are 350 m2 of foyers used for mingling, exhibitions and concerts, a 115 m2 café with a small stage and a kitchenette, seven music-school teaching rooms that double as backstage and chamber-concert rooms, an 850 m2 library, Verket at 170 m2 with two band rooms for youth and adult rehearsals, and Kulturtorget, an outdoor amphitheatre.
