Manchester Central is the city's principal conference, exhibition and large-event venue, converted from the trainshed of the former Manchester Central railway station and known for many years as G-Mex. Its arched roof covers the column-free Central Hall, and the complex also holds the purpose-built Exchange Auditorium, the Exchange Hall and a range of smaller conference and meeting rooms, giving over 23,000 square metres of flexible space in total. It hosts conferences, exhibitions, party conferences, awards dinners, graduations and arena-scale concerts.
