About this venue
The MensaBar occupies the foyer of the Mensa Rempartstraße in central Freiburg, between Holzmarkt and the university library and about ten minutes' walk from the main station. It is run by the Studierendenwerk Freiburg (SWFR) as 'culture for students, by students': during the semester it hosts concerts, slams, the student MONDO music theatre, international evenings and parties, and in summer open-air events in the MensaGarten next door.
The room has a long bar, a stage, a lighting and sound system, a screen and a video projector, suitable for readings, theatre, live music and club nights. Regular formats include Mensa Mania on Mondays (games night with free entry), the WedneStage cultural programme every Wednesday in term, with concerts pairing two local acts around a genre, the stand-up comedy series Comedy Flex and the Tanz.Raum dance show. The SWFR supports student performers and event ideas. Capacity is not published.
