About this venue
Molly's Chambers Bar & Kitchen is a bar and live music venue at 167 Bridge Street in Birkenhead, occupying a pub that dates to at least 1828 and traded as The Grapes and later The Old Colonial before being renamed, refurbished and reopened in June 2018. Its own site bills it as the Wirral's premier live music venue.
There are three spaces. The Main Stage takes the ticketed evening shows, mostly tribute and covers acts. The Basement Bar, also called the Cellar Bar, runs a separate late bill on Friday and Saturday nights, typically from 22:30, free before 22:30. The beer garden is a covered outdoor area with its own bar built into a shipping container. Two food concessions operate in the building: MsSlice pizza in the basement and The Grill Chicks for burgers. The operator publishes no capacity figure for any of the three rooms, so none is recorded here.
Programming runs several nights a week across rock, indie and pop, with tribute acts a staple, plus comedy and karaoke nights. A single recent season carried Sabbotage (Black Sabbath), Ultra:Foxx! (Ultravox and John Foxx), an Avril Lavigne tribute, Hair of the Dog, The Vinyls, Pepe Le Moko, The Whiskey Sours, The Revellers, SLCK and Insanity Beach, alongside Comedy Asylum and Asylum Karaoke. All shows are 18+ and valid ID is required.
