About this venue
Musikens Hus is a music and culture house in Majorna, Gothenburg, that has operated under that name for more than 40 years. It has two stages: the large concert room (about 150 m2 with a 43 m2 stage) and the small stage in the ground-floor Café Hängmattan, which serves a vegetarian menu and books smaller live acts, often with free entry. Programming includes touring bands from abroad, local festivals, club nights with DJs, open-stage evenings, spoken word and poetry. About 70 bands rehearse in the building, and it runs evening and weekend courses in subjects such as dance and percussion. External promoters, associations and clubs can hire the concert room with the house's cloakroom, door staff, bar, kitchen, dressing room and catering; a separate dance studio of about 14 x 12 m with a mirror wall is let by the day or evening. The house runs on a green-culture policy with rooftop solar panels. Step-free entry to the concert room is arranged through the courtyard on request.
