Old Black Bull is a Grade II listed pub on Friargate dating from around 1900, built for the brewers Garlick and Sykes, with a black-and-white mock-Tudor upper storey over a green terracotta and tiled ground floor.
The pub underwent a significant refurbishment in late 2025 and won Central Lancashire CAMRA's Most Improved Pub of the Year award in 2026. It serves up to five cask ales, hosts live music every Friday evening, and has a patio garden and a quiet, TV-free snug.
