About this venue

Idrottshuset stands in central Örebro at Eyragatan 1 and holds several halls for basketball, gymnastics, floorball, volleyball and handball. The original building was opened in 1946 and was one of the largest sports halls in Europe of its day; a modern extension linked to it by a building with a café and conference space was reopened in 2013 with a women's handball international. The new hall consists of two full-size ball courts (20 x 40 m) that can be combined into one arena hall for bigger matches and events, with pull-out telescopic stands on the long sides and fixed stands at the ends, seating about 2,300 in total. The main hall (20 x 40 m, parquet floor) suits basketball and volleyball and has a spectator capacity of about 1,700. The upper hall (17 x 32 m) is a wooden-floor training hall. The halls are let by Örebro municipality through its online booking service, which private persons, companies and associations can use; organisers of cups, competitions and other events can send an event request at least six months ahead. Booked users enter through the main entrance facing Eyragatan with a tag or code.
