About this venue
Palladium opened on 26 February 1920 as Malmö's premier cinema with 1,044 seats, and was built with a stage from the start for theatre, concerts and revue. It ran mainly as a cinema until 1996 and hosted the 1983 Melodifestivalen broadcast. Between Stortorget and Gustav Adolfs torg, it is now run by the cultural promoter Next Events together with Dansstationen and the City of Malmö, and is let for concerts, theatre, dance, stand-up, lectures, fairs and conferences. The Salongen auditorium has crystal chandeliers, original 1920 ceiling paintings, a raised stage, modern sound and lighting and a Steinway D grand piano; it takes about 518 seated, up to 700 standing, or about 850 including the balcony. The Marmorfoajén and Guldfoajén foyers are used for receptions, small gigs, mingling and dinners.
