Perleporten Kulturhus

Perleporten Kulturhus is the culture house of Honningsvåg in Nordkapp municipality, the northernmost town on mainland Norway. It combines a concert stage, the Sjøgata Pub, an in-house microbrewery and the No. 17 shop in one building on Storgata, and describes itself as a house built to gather the town rather than to stand and look pretty. The concert room is deliberately intimate, putting the audience close to the stage, and fills up around the venue's own two festivals: Sunshine Winter Festival in January, staged when the northern lights are at their strongest in the polar night, and Oggasjakka in August, a high-summer festival programmed around the turn of July and August. Between festivals the house runs a weekly rhythm of its own — the Perleboffen quiz every Thursday at 19:30, a nightclub every Saturday from 22:00 to 02:00, karaoke on the first Friday of the month and an open stage on the first Wednesday. Sjøgata Pub is open daily from 11:00 to 02:00 and has three dart boards with the Scolia scoring system, free to play. Perleporten Kulturbryggeri has brewed on site since 2018 and took its present name in 2021, working with local ingredients and northern flavours — berries and herbs alongside the classic malt, hops, yeast and water — and its beer is served in the pub. Guided tastings of about twenty minutes run on weekdays at 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00 for 380 kr per person, maximum eight per hour, 18 and over, meeting at the pub down in Sjøgata. The house also produces the weekly Perlepodden podcast and runs its own iPhone and Android app carrying the event calendar. Tickets for ticketed events are sold through eBillett.
