About this venue
Phoenix Cafe Bar is the café and licensed bar at Abbeydale Sports and Community Centre on Glevum Way, run for the Abbeydale Community Association, a registered charity. All its profits go to the association. By day it serves baguettes, paninis, jacket potatoes, cakes and locally roasted coffee. It stays open into the evening on most days, shows sport on a big screen, and hosts weekend entertainment that is announced on its Facebook page.
The centre's rooms can be hired for parties, celebrations, dances, meetings, training and sports, and the café bar provides buffets and refreshments for hirers. The Main Hall, refurbished in 2025, has a sprung wooden floor and seats up to 120. The Lindsey Room takes 40, the Tickner Studio 35 and the Gallery 20, and there is also an artificial training pitch. The centre has level access, free Wi-Fi and car parking next to the building.
