About this venue
Pontllanfraith RFC plays at the Welfare Ground, known locally as "The Granny," a recreation ground opened in 1927 with a Miners' Welfare Fund grant that also retains its original cricket pitch, bowling green, tennis courts and children's playground. The club joined the Welsh Rugby Union in 1998, is a feeder club for the Newport Gwent Dragons, and won the WRU Division Four East title in 2005/06 and Division Five East in 2023/24.
