Prima occupies a stone railway arch of 1849 beneath Newcastle's High Level Bridge, on The Side just off the Quayside, and has been trading there for over two decades. It is one of the city's largest Italian restaurants, seating up to around 300 diners across three stone-walled dining rooms, an outdoor terrace and a third-floor lounge bar.
Three of its rooms are hired out for functions, taking between 20 and 120 guests, and the venue has programmed its own ticketed entertainment, including the Quayside Cabaret Club - an evening of comedy, magic, circus and live music served with dinner.
