About this venue
The Prince of Wales Theatre is Cannock's town-centre theatre, seating 427, with two bars. It has been closed since April 2025 to facilitate the town centre's wider regeneration, and was added to the Theatres Trust's Theatres at Risk Register in 2025.
On 20 August 2026 Cannock Chase District Council's Cabinet voted unanimously to retain and refurbish the building rather than demolish it, subject to detailed design work, the procurement of an operator and a full business case. No reopening date has been announced. Its former operator, the charity Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles, has ceased operations.
