About this venue
The Glasshouse International Centre for Music is the Norman Foster-designed concert venue on Gateshead Quays, opened in 2004 as Sage Gateshead and renamed in 2023. It is a registered charity and an independent music venue, running a year-round programme spanning classical, folk, jazz, rock, pop and electronic music alongside a large learning and participation operation.
The building holds three performance spaces. Sage One is a 1,640-seat auditorium; Sage Two is a smaller, more intimate 330-seat hall; and the Northern Rock Foundation Hall is a flat-floored rehearsal and function room. The concourse also offers around 1,800 square metres of exhibition space, breakout rooms and on-site catering, and the whole building is available for conferences, award ceremonies and private hire.
