About this venue
Schloss Ebnet is a Baroque manor in the Ebnet district east of Freiburg, built from 1748 for Ferdinand Sebastian von Sickingen-Hohenburg to a design by the Basel architect Johann Jacob Fechter, with stucco by Hans Georg Gigl and ceiling paintings of 1750 by Benedikt Gambs. Since 1811 it has belonged to the Freiherren von Gayling von Altheim, who still live there. The house itself is open to the public for special cultural events, such as the Ebneter Kultursommer, and on heritage open days.
For hire are the Zehntscheune (tithe barn) in the castle park, suitable for celebrations until 21:30, seminars and concerts, and the newly renovated Gartensaal with its painted ceiling, open fireplace and direct access to the park, suitable for festive dinners; the grounds are also popular for celebrant-led (non-civil) wedding ceremonies with a champagne reception. Events in the park include open-air theatre and the Ebneter Christkindlesmarkt, whose 35th edition takes place on 29 November 2026. Capacities are not published.
