Sefton Park

Sefton Park is a Grade I listed Victorian public park of about 235 acres in south Liverpool, opened in 1872 to a design by the French landscape architect Edouard Andre with the Liverpool architect Lewis Hornblower. It is laid out with wide promenades, a boating lake, the Fairy Glen and Dell, the Eros Fountain and a bandstand of around 1912 that still hosts live performances.

Liverpool City Council, which owns and manages the park, describes it as a major hub for live music and stages large-scale events there. Africa Oye, billed as the UK's largest celebration of African music and culture, is held in the park each summer and is booked for 19 and 20 June 2027; BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend has also been staged here. Events are generally entered from the Aigburth Drive side, and the park is also accessible from Queens Drive, Greenbank Drive, Lark Lane and Elmswood Road.

Hire is through the council rather than a venue office. Organisers submit an online park event request setting out the event category, scale and capacity, ticket prices and proposed on-site infrastructure such as stage, lighting and marquees, and must hold the relevant licences and public liability insurance; the council aims to reply within ten working days. Legal wedding ceremonies cannot take place outdoors in the park, though receptions can be held with a hired events company.

The council publishes no capacity figure for the park itself, so none is recorded here. The Sefton Park Palm House, the restored 1896 glasshouse standing inside the park, is a separately hireable venue with its own listing.
