St Giles-in-the-Fields

St Giles-in-the-Fields stands on St Giles High Street between Soho, Covent Garden and Bloomsbury, on a site that has held a church since the 12th century, when it served a monastery and leper hospital in open fields between Westminster and the City. The present building was put up between 1731 and 1733 to a Palladian design by Henry Flitcroft, and its spire is one of the landmarks of the block.

Known as the Poets' Church, it works as both an active Anglican parish and a hire venue, with a piano, organ and harmonium available and an acoustic suited to unamplified music. It takes concerts, recitals, choral performances, filming, book launches and community events.

Two spaces are hired, separately or together: the church itself, with seating in historic pews, and the adjoining Vestry House, used for meetings, receptions and smaller functions. No capacity is recorded here, because the figures published for the church on hire marketplaces contradict each other.
