About this venue

Stampen is a jazz and rhythm and blues bar and restaurant in Gamla Stan. The premises were a pawn shop and, until 1880, home to the French Reformed Church, and the building has a 17th-century cellar. It became a jazz pub in 1968 and still has antiques, stuffed animals and instruments hanging from the ceiling. The venue books professional musicians six days a week (closed Mondays), from traditional jazz to modern blues and soul or R and B, and also lists a Stampen Blues Jam. Past guests named by the venue include Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster and Monica Zetterlund.
