About this venue
Storfjord Kulturhus is the regional culture house for the villages around the Storfjord, in the heart of Stranda town centre. It opened in November 1999, is owned by Stranda municipality and is operated by the cooperative Storfjord Kulturhus SA.
Besides the cinema and concert hall, which seats 300 in a raked amphitheatre, the building holds several smaller meeting rooms, conference rooms, a café, a room for art exhibitions, the public library and a parking basement. It is the natural meeting place for cinema, theatre, dance, exhibitions and concerts of every kind, and the house tailors events from small meetings to functions, gatherings and conferences of up to 300 delegates, with lunch and dinner service and an alcohol licence where wanted.
The programme mixes first-run cinema with live bookings — Sigrid Moldestad with band, the comedians Terje Sporsem and John Brungot, Petter Northug's touring talk and Spanish food and wine evenings among the autumn 2026 listings.
The hall is unusually well equipped for its size. Sound is a d&b system rebuilt in 2025 — six CCL8 and four CCL12 cardioid line-array boxes, six E18 subs and four E9 front fills on D40, D6 and E-PAC amplification — with an Allen & Heath dLive S7000 and DM48 rack at front of house, Dante, Martin F12 and d&b C602 monitors on QSC amplification, and a deep microphone locker of Shure, Sennheiser, AKG and Audio-Technica with four wireless Shure channels. Lighting is a mix of Ayrton MagicBlade R, Prolights Astra Wash7Pix, Snow Frost Hybrid Spot 350 and Lumipar LEDs on wireless DMX plus ADB profiles, Fresnels, cyc lights and two manual followspots, run from a GrandMA2 PC Wing or a Wolfmix W1 MKII, with an MDG ATMe hazer.
The backline includes a Yamaha Stage Custom drum kit, a Petrof Monsoon 237 grand piano, a Steinway baby grand from 1918 restored in 1999, a Rönisch upright, a Hammond A100 with a Leslie 122, a Fender Rhodes, and Vox and Fender guitar amps with a Markbass bass rig.
