About this venue
Summerhall occupies the former Royal (Dick) Veterinary College on the edge of the Meadows, and is one of Edinburgh's largest independent arts complexes: theatre, dance, visual art, film, music, workshops and a year-round programme alongside one of the biggest Edinburgh Festival Fringe operations in the city.
The building holds around twenty performance and exhibition spaces, among them the Dissection Room, the Anatomy Lecture Theatre, the Old Lab and the Red Lecture Theatre, plus artists' studios, the Royal Dick bar, Barney's Beer and the Summerhall distillery. The arts programme is run by Summerhall Arts; the building and its tenants are managed by the Scot-ART charity.
