About this venue
The Sunderland Empire opened in 1907 and is the largest theatre between Leeds and Edinburgh, seating around 1,860. It is operated by the Ambassador Theatre Group on behalf of the Sunderland Empire Theatre Trust.
Its programme is built around large-scale touring musicals, drama, concerts, comedy, ballet and the annual pantomime, along with community and education work.
