About this venue
The Ancient Oak is a large modern-build family food pub on Merrytrees Lane in Cottam, on the northern edge of Preston. It has a single L-shaped bar area split into distinct drinking and dining sections, an open log fire for winter, and a function room alongside the main dining room. The pub reopened in February 2026 after a four-week refurbishment by operator Ember Inns, with a refreshed bar, new seating and an enhanced beer garden. It hosts a quiz night on Mondays and stocks a rotating cask ale line-up with a Monday and Thursday discount.
