About this venue
The Hooch is a small bar and cafe at 81 Quayside in Newcastle, in a listed building looking out over the Tyne. It opens from the morning for coffee from Ouseburn Coffee Co., pastries, paninis and small plates, and turns into a bar in the evening with a list built around Scottish gins and single malts, cocktails, wine and beer.
It doubles as an occasional live music room. There are DJ sets at weekends and a run of what the bar calls "tiny bar gigs", with a soundtrack of soul, funk, jazz, hip hop and reggae. The room is also available for private hire. It is the smaller sister of Hoochie Coochie, the Pilgrim Street bar that has since rebranded as Pilgrim.
