About this venue

The Picturedrome, known locally as "The Drome", occupies what was Northampton's first purpose-built cinema, opened in 1912, opposite the old Racecourse on Kettering Road. It programmes local, national and international bands and artists alongside live comedy, film screenings and burlesque. At the front is a relaxed, café-style Front Bar lit by concertina windows. Behind double doors is the Venue Bar, a large auditorium with a stage framed by velvet curtains, a large HD screen and a bar running the length of the room, with a mezzanine for seated viewing above. A short flight of stairs leads to a roof terrace. The venue is run by KDR Events, which bought it in a 2018 management buyout.
