The Point occupies a landmark building at the junction of Holmeside and Park Lane in Sunderland city centre, opposite the Bridges shopping centre. A double-width staircase leads to the first-floor events venue, which has a double-height atrium ceiling, a long bar and island bar serveries, a dance floor and a raised stage.
Two late-night bars, Live Lounge and Glitterball, trade at ground-floor level with their own entrance on the Park Lane frontage. Live Lounge showcases grassroots bands every weekend. The venue reopened after a £150,000 refurbishment that reconfigured the main hall, installed a new light and sound rig and improved accessibility, and continues to programme concerts, club nights and boxing.
