About this venue
The Rigger is a small independent live music venue and arts space on Marsh Parade in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It puts on weekly shows by local and touring bands, alongside comedy, poetry and spoken word, performing arts, sideshow, burlesque and cultural and craft events.
The programme leans to rock, metal and punk: recurring nights include Metal Mania (a showcase of UK metal bands), Amplified (an unsigned band night), Fresh Vibes (a monthly 13+ new-band night) and post-punk and alternative club nights, plus tribute acts and touring headliners. The venue can be hired for art events and for private or corporate events through its events team.
Most shows are 18+; under-16s can attend until 8pm and over-16s until 10.30pm if arranged in advance, accompanied by an adult. Doors are usually 8pm. Wheelchair users can enter through the band entrance using portable ramps, and carers get a free ticket. There is limited parking at the venue, with public car parks a few minutes' walk away.
