About this venue
The Ship Isis dates from 1885 and is a Grade II listed building on Silksworth Row. After lying empty for more than two years it was extensively restored and reopened by Jarrow Brewery in 2011, a rehabilitation CAMRA describes as an outstanding pub restoration.
The long, narrow bar carries up to five changing cask ales plus real ciders, with a lounge opposite and the Vaux Room upstairs at weekends. The pub runs live music, quizzes and gaming nights, and since 2023 the Wear Beer microbrewery has brewed in the cellar. It was Sunderland & South Tyneside CAMRA branch Pub of the Year 2025.
