About this venue
The Sugarmill is a nightclub and live music venue at the bottom of Brunswick Street in Hanley's Cultural Quarter, open since 1994, next to its sister venue Sugarcane. It has hosted many bands on their way up, including Coldplay, Muse and Elbow, and still runs a busy gig calendar of touring headliners and local showcases. Recent and upcoming bookings include grunge-rock trio Dinosaur Pile-Up and a Christmas Sugarmill Spotlight show.
Club nights are a core part of the programme. The venue's weekly Electric Friday has been described as the longest-running alternative club night in Staffordshire. The current listings also include themed nights such as a hyperpop and digicore night, an 80s day disco and the Sugarmill Soul Club, with Northern Soul DJ sets. Club nights are for over-18s, while most gigs are open to over-14s. No capacity is published.
