About this venue

The Theaterstübchen is a small live club in a cellar on Jordanstraße in central Kassel, open since 1996 and supported by the non-profit Kasseler Förderverein für Kulturarbeit Kafka e.V. Its programme covers regional, national and international jazz, blues, funk, soul, pop and singer-songwriters, with regular series such as "Jazz ist dienstags" on Tuesdays, Monday sessions open to all musicians, the FrauenStimmen series and the "Disko für Erwachsene" with DJs playing classics, funk, soul and wave. The four-week JazzFrühling festival in March has run seventeen times, and the club has won the APPLAUS venue prize three times; guests have included Klaus Doldinger, Michael Wollny, Nils Landgren and Ron Carter. The club shares its building with the CassallaTheater; both were once part of the "Movie" cinema and pub complex. The stage measures 8.5 m by 3.5 m and is backed by a house backline that includes a Yamaha C5 grand piano and a 1956 Hammond B3. Tickets are sold at the door at the base price and by email reservation; concession prices apply for pupils, trainees and students.
