Ullet Road Unitarian Church is a Grade I listed building of 1899 beside Sefton Park, home to a liberal Unitarian congregation that opens the building to community, cultural and educational use. Five rooms are let. The main church seats 199 for concerts and performances, has step-free access, a small car park at the front and a second car park on the Cheltenham Avenue side. The Church Hall, given by Henry Tate Jnr and Sir John Brunner, takes 120 and is used for wedding receptions and community parties. The Church Library takes 25, is lined with bookcases, keeps a live coal fire and is furnished with original William Morris chairs. An upstairs hall takes 25 and suits art and small yoga classes, and a therapy room takes 2 for one-to-one work.
The congregation publishes a Building Use and Ethos Statement governing hire. It welcomes community, cultural, educational and reflective activities compatible with an ethos of openness, respect, inclusion and freedom of belief, states that LGBTQ+ people are welcomed and fully included, and declines bookings for activities or services that promote exclusion or discrimination.
