About this venue
XLR is an independent 200-capacity basement nightclub and grassroots music venue on Wilmslow Road in Withington, with a Funktion One system, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10pm to 2am. It programmes bands, DJs and grassroots showcases from collectives such as Ivy Collective and the female-led Not Bad For A Girl series. In September 2025 it relaunched as the UK's first nightclub licensed to let ticket holders bring their own alcohol under a corkage-style licence.
