Carlisle Cathedral

Carlisle Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral of the Diocese of Carlisle, founded in 1122 and standing in its own precinct, The Abbey, at the centre of the city. Alongside daily worship it carries a busy public programme: candlelight concerts, orchestral and organ recitals, film-music nights, heritage open days and a farmers' market.

The cathedral hires its spaces for events. Beside the nave itself, the precinct holds the Fratry, a fourteenth-century building restored in 2020 that contains the Fratry Hall and, beneath it, the Fratry Undercroft, both bookable through the cathedral, together with the cathedral cafe. No capacity figure could be read from the cathedral's own hire pages, so none is recorded here.
