About this venue
Stanley's Cask is a traditional single-room community pub at 212 Rake Lane in the New Brighton part of Wallasey, in a white-rendered corner building on the main road. It opened in 1877 as the Nags Head, traded as McCulloch's Pub in the 1980s and took its present name in 1983.
It is one of the Wirral's better-known small live-music pubs. CAMRA records bands on Friday and Saturday nights from 9.30pm and on Sunday evenings from 6.30pm, playing rock, blues and folk, alongside quiz nights, pub sports teams and charity days.
The bar keeps five guest ales, one of them usually from a local micro-brewery and the others often seasonal beers from regional breweries, and holds a Cask Marque rating. The pub has taken CAMRA Wirral branch awards including Community Pub Award 2022 and a local Pub of the Season, and has front and rear gardens. It opens seven days a week, to midnight from Thursday to Saturday and to 11pm otherwise.
