Theatre Royal Wakefield is a Grade II* listed theatre on Drury Lane, designed by Frank Matcham and opened in 1894 as the Wakefield Opera House. It is the smallest surviving Matcham theatre. After spells as a cinema and a bingo hall it reopened as a theatre in 1981, and now works as both a producing and a receiving house, home to the John Godber Company and a performance academy, with a cafe bar on site.
