About this venue
Theatre Severn is a contemporary riverside theatre on Frankwell Quay in Shrewsbury. Its main Auditorium seats up to 650 across stalls, circle and upper circle in a horseshoe layout that keeps audiences close to the stage. It has air conditioning, full flying, and the option of an orchestra pit or thrust stage, and takes touring drama, musicals, live music, comedy, talks and pantomime alongside local companies.
The building also holds the Walker Theatre, a separately programmed 250-seat studio theatre that can be cleared for flat-floor events and standing gigs (listed separately in this directory); the Haydn Smith Room, a function and meeting room overlooking the River Severn for up to 60 guests at a reception or 24 boardroom-style, with Wi-Fi and built-in projection; and a Dance Studio with a sprung floor, sound system and mirrors, used for classes. All of these spaces can be hired for performances, meetings and events.
