About this venue
Blackfriars of Bell Street is a long-established pub at 36 Bell Street in Glasgow's Merchant City, known for real ale and craft beer and for a busy programme of live music and comedy.
Beneath the bar is the venue's basement room, Club 45, one of the oldest comedy spaces in the city and a room Billy Connolly played early in his career. It runs stand-up every Friday and Saturday and the fortnightly Fresh Comedy night on the second and fourth Monday of the month, and is also used for gigs and podcast recordings. The basement is reached by stairs only, with no lift or ramp. The operator publishes no capacity for it.
