About this venue
Colonel Porter's Emporium opened in 2017 on the ground floor of Milburn House, at the bottom of Dean Street between Newcastle city centre and the Quayside. It takes its name and its theme from James Herbert Porter, the brewer behind Newcastle Brown Ale.
The interior is split into a series of rooms - a botanical garden, a rum and gin bar, a tavern and a hidden disco - serving vintage-style cocktails, craft ales and afternoon and "tipsy" teas. The bar programmes live music and local and international DJs, runs mixology and rum masterclasses, and offers private hire.
