The Shipping Forecast occupies a former shipping warehouse at 15 Slater Street, in the heart of Liverpool's Ropewalks. It opened in 2010 on the site of Flares and Wonderbar and has traded since as a pub that combines food, drink and live music under one large roof: an American pub-style menu, a rotating beer and ale range, live sport on screen and a room that shifts from a relaxed afternoon bar to a late-night one. It is open to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Downstairs is a basement live room, and the building's programming history is substantial — local acts such as Clean Cut Kid alongside international DJs including Disclosure, Mark Ronson and Hot Chip. The current bill is weekly rather than occasional: Shipwrecked Comedy runs every Tuesday and is booked more than a year ahead, and the promoter Johnsysshots runs regular nights here including a named Rock Night.
The operator publishes no capacity and no room-hire offer of its own, so no hire route is recorded here; the capacity figure held on this record comes from the venue's ticketing listing.
