About this venue
The Oak is a pub on St James's Street in Kemptown, described by CAMRA as a "traditional pub with a modern twist" with new decor, a "huge sunny beer garden" and a stage area for DJs, musicians and performance. It has a PA system and CAMRA records live music seven days a week.
The premises reopened under the name The Oak in August 2024 after refurbishment, having traded previously as Shortt's Bar and, before that, the Royal Oak. Food is provided by an in-house Indian street food kitchen.
